17gram Beans USJ 21: A Hidden Gem for Coffee Lovers

I’m not a coffee connoisseur, but I do love to explore cafes and enjoy a good cup of joe. Recently, I had been itching to pay a visit to, 17gram Beans USJ 21, a local slow coffee bar that had been on my radar for some time. Finally, I found the perfect excuse to stop by when I arranged to meet up with a friend at this spot today.

Once inside 17gram Beans, you can sense the passion that infuses this charming coffee shop, thanks to the husband-wife duo behind it, Jai and Emi. The warm ambiance and the dedication to the art of coffee immediately set the stage for a memorable experience.

If you’re in this area for coffee, MyEspresso is also just further down the road, nearby Main Place mall.

17gram Beans USJ 21: Manual Espresso Magic

What struck me first was their unwavering commitment to their craft. At 17gram Beans, manual espresso takes center stage, and you can truly taste the difference in every sip. The painstaking preparation and meticulous attention to detail result in a coffee experience that’s nothing short of intriguing.

My coffee today

A Weekly Bean Adventure: Every week, they introduce a different variety, ensuring that there’s always something fresh and intriguing to tickle your taste buds.

Community Connection: But what truly sets 17gram Beans apart is the genuine sense of community it nurtures. With many local regulars who consider this place their second home, it’s evident that 17gram Beans holds a special place in the hearts of its patrons.

A Year and a Half of Excellence: This little coffee outlet is a relatively young business, serving our neighbourhood for just about a year and a half.

A Familiar Face: During my visits, I couldn’t help but notice the same Japanese expatriate lady sipping her coffee with a contented smile. She mentioned that she frequents 17gram Beans almost daily.

Cozy and Intimate: With only three tables and two counter seats, 17gram Beans provides an intimate setting for coffee aficionados. If you’re eager to delve deeper into the art of coffee and explore its nuances, I highly recommend securing a spot at the counter. Jai is more than happy to share his wealth of knowledge and passion, explaining every aspect of your brew.

Aunty was happy to share the cookies she baked with everybody in the cafe.

Considering its location at the LRT station, one might assume 17gram Beans caters primarily to grab-and-go customers. However, it’s a misconception. This place is designed for those who genuinely care about the quality of their coffee and relish the experience. Over the two-hours I was there, I witnessed people from various walks of life, including an auntie who brought her own cookies to share with everyone while enjoying her coffee. I got a free cookie from her too.

While parking around the area can be a tad tricky, there are viable options such as parking at Main Place and taking a short walk. There’s also a multi-storey car park conveniently located right next to the LRT station itself, which I regrettably missed on my initial pass.

You do hear a little of the traffic from the road, but I’m still looking forward to meeting up with more friends here in the future.
