I found Grandmum Kitchen when I was walking around SS15. I always felt declaring that you have the best of something in any location comes off as overconfident, but to be fair, if they didn’t put that sign up, I don’t think I would have stopped to have a look at the menu.
Food
If you don’t take the claim of the “best nasi lemak in Subang Jaya” too seriously, you should enjoy the food here. After all, from the poll within our SubangFood group, there are so many different preferences in the styles and taste of nasi lemak that I doubt there will ever be a clear winner. The only time I’ve seen unanimous agreement of the best of something in Subang Jaya was the Aroma Burger stall in USJ 14.
That being said, I like the nasi lemak here as the rice was cooked well. I’m guessing some folks will feel that it’s lacking some coconut milk, but it’s all very subjective. The mee siam and drinks were pretty nice too. Adding plain nasi lemak rice only cost RM1.50, which is good value.
The RM13.90 nasi lemak ayam goreng came with both the drumstick and thigh, which is quite reasonable value, considering the environment and cost of ingredients these days. Throw in RM2.00 to add a drink to your meal.
What I like is that they have some pasta and croissants, which is great when you need to keep kids satisfied.
I’ve got a feeling this place should be pretty popular with the office crowd, considering the location, pricing, and food offering.
