MyEspresso Cafe USJ 21

MyEspresso Cafe was recommended to me by a friend who roasts coffee beans in Subang Jaya. Whenever a coffee roaster recommends a cafe to me, I make a point to visit the place.

Food

The first item you’ll notice on the menu will be the aerocino, which is described as refreshingly smooth.

The coffee preparation methods are interesting, and I have my eye on the Vienna coffee for my next visit.

What caught my eye this visit were the various options of chocolate that MyEspresso Cafe has on display. They pride themselves on locally sourced chocolate.

If you ask the owner, he will explain that the Semai chocolate is harvested by the Semai tribe in Pahang. The Semai chocolate offers a bolder profile, suitable for hot and cold drinks.

The Triang chocolate is also from Pahang, with a sweeter profile, which is great for iced chocolate drinks.

Finally the MyLiberica from Johor has the highest chocolate content, with a slight fruity profile of delicate acidity. It’s a flavour that is accentuated well in hot chocolate.

MyEspresso Cafe is liaising with a small group of local farmers who grow a higher grade of cacao, putting attention to agriculture technology and advance chocolate processing methods.

He describes the care and effort they put into growing cacao as the same as growing durians. I was intrigued to hear that batches of this chocolate have won awards in competitions.

Ambience

It’s a quiet and comfortable cafe. It has its fair share of customers, but it doesn’t get noisy, which makes it a great place to chat over coffee.

Service

The owner, KF Chan, is very friendly and was happy to share about his coffee and drinks. If you’re the type of person who likes to understand more about where you coffee or chocolate comes from, ask him about it, and you’ll be treated to an enjoyable conversation on the topic.
