SubangFood Gathering at Kebaabish Subang Jaya

Kebaabish Subang Jaya

We managed to arrange our first-ever SubangFood gathering at Kebaabish Subang Jaya today. I selected this place because the food here is good, they provide great service, and the owner has been supportive of our SubangFood community from the start, back when we had about 150 members.

I had a short discussion with the owner on the menu the day before, and after a few minutes of talking to him, I realised it would be quite silly of me to try and select the food items off the menu for our members, so we switched it to (what I call) a light omakase style. I suggested a budget for the owner to work with, along with a general direction how the meal would go, and he would handle the rest. This does remind me of the days when I was based in Shenzhen, China and had to regularly curate the food menu for visiting business people.

We had the whole restaurant to ourselves, which effectively made it a private event. The owner, Shahid, went out of his way to make us comfortable, ensuring that we had enough drinks, food, and variety. He also took the effort to introduce the different dishes that he was serving to us, which included a mix of Pakistani and Arabic cuisine. The palak paneer in particular in particular was very popular amongst members, along with the mandi lamb.

Considering our ongoing poll suggests that Subang residents appreciate the personal touch from the business owner, I’m sure the effort for personalised service from Kebaabish Subang Jaya is appreciated.

Personally I enjoyed the food, but what made the whole event special was that SubangFood members finally had a chance to meet each other over good food in a comfortable and welcoming setting. Being able to bring the community closer together over good food is one of the goals I have, and I’m very happy to see our members come out of lunch satisfied and with a smile on their faces.

While the restaurant setting might make you think that the price could be high, a quick glance at their menu and you’ll realise that it’s actually very reasonable. Their lunch sets in particular are rather affordable.

I’d also like to give a special thanks to Shahid, the owner of Kebaabish Subang Jaya, for taking the extra effort to make our SubangFood community feel so welcomed.
